Theory test
FREE ON LINE THEORY & HAZARD PERCEPTION PRACTISE
I will give any help you feel you need to prepare you for the theory test which every learner needs to pass before taking their Practical Driving Test. I will supply you with FREE internet assess to Theory and Hazard Perception practise tests if required, and now available FREE OF CHARGE website assess which has information pages, video clips, some which enable you to be interactive on the subjects you will cover during your progress in learning to drive.
The theory test is divided into two parts:
- A multiple-choice test comprising 50 multiple-choice questions covering aspects of the Highway Code. The pass mark is 43.
- A hazard perception test records your response to hazards shown within 14 video clips of every day road scenes, which last about 1 minute each. There is at least one hazard show in each clip, one scene contains two hazrads. Each correct response will be marked between 1-5 points. The pass mark is 44 out of 75. Once passed your certificate is valid for 2 years.
Practical test
The Driving Standards Agency recommends that most learners take at least 45 hours of professional tuition lessons and at least 20 hours with friends and family.
The average number of lessons with ASH Driving Instruction is currently about 28 hours, although now tests are taking place in Kings Lynn, this has gone up by about 10 hours due to road recognition,
it all depends on the learner driver. It has been found that if you times your age by 1.5, it gives you some idea of how many lessons you might need. But all learners are different, some will
pass more quickly than others. I am often asked when a pupil starts to drive how many hours they will need, hard to say after just one lesson, but I have had two pupils who had previously just
driven round a field, pass their test first time after just 11 and 14 hours lessons, but that is very unusual to have that limited number of lessons! I have also had a pupil in the past for
nearly 2 years, she was very ready for her test way before that, but didn't want to take it too soon! It took a lot of persuading nearly a year to get her to take her Theory, which she promised if
she passed she would book her Practical test, needless to say it took another year before she would book it, and that was after I said if she didn't, I would, think she just enjoyed going out, and of
course she passed first time.
To date I have had 14 pupils pass their tests with no minor or major faults, a clean sheet and a perfect drive.
Now available FREE OF CHARGE website assess which has information pages, video clips, some which enable you to be interactive on the subjects you will cover during your progress in learning to drive.
Your driving test will start with an eyesight check and 2 vehicle safety questions. The driving part of your test will last about 40 minutes, see the News Page for information on changes to the Practical Test. Throughout the test your examiner will be looking for an overall safe standard of driving, including when you are carrying out the set exercises. You can make up to 15 driving faults and still pass the test (16 or more results in failure). However, if you commit one serious or dangerous fault you will fail the test.
