Pass Plus
Statistics prove that the risk of having an accident is highest during the first years of driving after passing the driving test. This is why the Government launched the Pass Plus programme.
Backed by the Driving Standards Agency (DSA) and major motor insurance companies, it is designed to help new drivers gain more experience and become better equipped for the demands
of modern driving.
The course needs to be taken within twelve months of passing your driving test to qualify for the insurance benefits and must last at least 6 hours.
Pass Plus consists of 6 practical modules
- Driving in towns
- In all weathers
- On rural roads
- At night
- On dual carriageways
- On motorways
Due to the location of a decent motorway from this area, I usually let my pupils choose where they want to go, as an example, you have friends/family/going to university in Sheffield so you would like to go there. I will plan a trip which covers all the Pass Plus modules, this makes the course more relevant to you personally and helps you deal with the areas you are most likely to visit.
The course is usually taken over the whole day, don't worry I don't expect you to drive all that time, there are plenty of rest stops provided and I can drive too if necessary, but only one of my pupils have every found it necessary for me to drive for a short while.
The course is popular because of the extra experience and the saving on insurance is far greater than the cost of the course.
